The high chromium content of duplex stainless steels that protects against corrosion, causes embrittlement at temperatures over about 300°C. At low temperatures duplex stainless steels have better ductility than the ferritic and martensitic grades. Duplex grades can readily be used down to at least -50°C.
Learn MoreThis publication presents the properties of LDX 2101®, 2304, LDX 2404®, 2205 and 2507. The properties of 4501 is in general terms very similar to those of 2507. Grade 4501 is delivered if specified. In this data sheet only data for 2507 is given. Chemical composition The typical chemical compositions of Outokumpu grades are shown in Table 1.
Learn MoreIt can be corrected by complete solution annealing processing. This steel grade works well at temperatures lower than 300oC. The recommended heat processing for Duplex stainless steel 2205 is solution annealing from 1020 to 1100oC then quick quenching. It can be work hardened. It has high strength, fine welding and working properties.
Learn MoreThe machinability of Carpenter 2205 stainless generally has been between that of conventional Type 316 stainless and Carpenter 22Cr-13Ni-5Mn stainless. The following chart includes typical machining parameters used to machine Carpenter 2205 stainless. The data listed should be used as a guide for initial machine setup only.
Learn MoreThe standardduplex stainless steel grades typically contain 22 to 25% Cr and 2 to 3% molybdenum. Grades in this cate- gory are used widely across all industry sectors. Type 2205 (S32205) duplex stainless steel has evolved into the work- horse grade and is by far the most widely used of all sec- ond-generation duplex stainless steels.

Learn MoreDuplex 2205 Stainless Steel (1.4462) corrosion resistance is superior to Grade 316 in most environments. Heat treatment of Duplex SS 2205 is solution treatment (annealing), between 1020 – 1100°C, followed by rapid cooling. 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel (2205 Duplex) cannot be hardened by heat treatment. They can, however, be work hardened.
Learn More2205 Duplex Overview. Duplex 2205 is a nitrogen enhanced duplex stainless steel that was developed to combat common corrosion problems encountered with the 300 series stainless steels. “Duplex” describes a family of stainless steels that are neither fully austenitic, like 304 stainless, nor purely ferritic, like 430 stainless.
